Recent Passing Away of Harold Christie

We are saddened to note the one of our club and committee members. Harold attended the club for a few years with his grandson Sam, until a health issue prevented him from joining us at our swims. Harold and his family were very supportive of the club, his daughter Rebecca ran the 2017 Chester Marathon to raise funds for both Alder Hey Hospital and ourselves. In addition, Harold was instrumental in our successful application to Tesco's 'Bags Of Help' scheme in 2017/18, when we received £2,000 for a swim tutor, publicity materials, club shirts, social events and recognition/rewards for club members. One of these events was a suggestion from Harold that we had some kind of Christmas event, which turned into our annual outing to a pantomime (pre-Covid times!) and is enjoyed by everyone who attends. Harold was a very quiet person, great technical knowledge for helping with risk assessments, kind, generous and worked 'behind the scenes' to promote us in social media. A true friend to our club, liked and respected, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. We send our love and sympathies to Kay, Rebecca, Sam, Callie and Ben in their loss.
